Board approves five-year lease at Yuba County Airport for aviation repair station

YUBA COUNTY, Calif. ' The Yuba County Board of Supervisors voted June 24 to approve a five-year lease at the Yuba County Airport with Roger Edwards and Dr. Amy Clements, doing business as Innovative Business Solutions LLC.
Jason Copping, a Community Development representative with responsibilities for the airport, said the prospective tenants have decades of aviation experience and have purchased a repair station in Waco, Texas. He said Federal Aviation Administration staff in North Texas have reviewed a transition plan and forwarded oversight to the office in Sacramento, which will inspect the Yuba County facility once the county lease is in place.
Copping said the repair station designation enables specialized work on particular aircraft engines ' notably Pratt & Whitney radial models ' that previously required transport to distant facilities such as Tulsa. Board members said bringing the capability to the West Coast would be valuable for historic aircraft maintenance and local aviation activity.
Supervisors praised the airport staff's efforts to attract the business. A motion to approve the lease and authorize the chair to execute the agreement passed by voice vote.
County staff said the lease will allow the applicants to proceed with the FAA inspection process and further site preparations; the board did not specify financial terms during the public presentation.
