Dawn Walton of the County Public Health office briefed the board on a grant allocation of $28,380 per year designated for community‑based organization or nonprofit health‑care provider work on sexually transmitted infection prevention collaboration. Walton said the budget must be submitted by March 27 but the county does not need to identify the selected CBO at that moment; the county will issue an RFP to solicit local applicants. Walton said the chosen provider must be within Siskiyou County and that, if no qualified applicants respond, the county can document that outcome and request a reduced allocation or a reallocation.
Supervisors asked whether the board would have an opportunity to approve the selected vendor. Walton said an RFP and contract would follow county procurement rules; because the contract total ($28,380 per year over a multi‑year term) exceeds the county administrator's $25,000 threshold, the contract will come back to the board for approval of the selected vendor.
The board voted to accept the award and authorize staff to proceed with the RFP and budget submission. Several supervisors said they want more local information about potential CBO candidates and the scope of work before final vendor selection.
