An HR representative told the Administrative Services Committee on Dec. 3, 2025, that McHenry County hired 55 people in the last quarter, recorded 93 new FMLA cases, completed performance reviews and is starting an internal equity compensation study.
The representative said the county hired 55 people in the last quarter and reported 93 new FMLA cases, which staff are tracking to see whether the trend continues. They said some active interviews lead to investigations if issues are identified.
On compensation, the representative said every proposed increase funnels through a gatekeeper (Holly) for review and then to the appropriate approver. The county has engaged the Archer Group to conduct an internal equity study that will review about 100 jobs in an initial year as part of a three-year cycle; the representative said the goal is to complete reporting on that work by May.
Committee members asked about which positions would be included; the representative said the initial review focuses on high-turnover and hard-to-hire positions and cross-departmental classifications, with public safety and health-related roles among those examined.
