McHenry County says federal drug-court funding error corrected; county highlights job fair and financial award

McHenry County officials told the board on Jan. 20 that a notice terminating the federal SAMHSA grant that supports the county's drug court was issued in error and that the funding will continue.
Chair (unnamed in transcript) said the drug court is a "vital specialty courts program" that reduces recidivism and thanked U.S. Representatives Darren LaHood, Jan Schakowsky, Brad Schneider and Bill Foster for intervening and helping the county understand the issue.
The chair also announced that the McHenry County Workforce Network held a job fair that connected eight employers with about 52 job seekers and noted a follow-up job fair scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 500 Russell Court in Woodstock. He encouraged veterans to arrive at 10:30 a.m. for early access to employers.
In other county news, the chair said McHenry County received a Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association for its annual comprehensive financial report, recognizing the county's fiscal reporting for the 27th consecutive year; the chair congratulated CFO Carrie Wise and the finance team.
The announcements were made as part of the chair's opening report; no formal vote was required. The board later adjourned after routine business.
