The McHenry County Board of Health Personnel Committee voted at its October 2024 meeting to approve changing the department contractor Dr. Tommaso’s title from "medical adviser" to "medical director" and to move into executive session to review minutes, employment contract matters and audit items.
Speaker 4 said Dr. Tommaso requested the title change because it better reflects her role and that the title aligns with the department’s standing orders. "She does provide her standing orders," Speaker 5 confirmed during discussion. Speaker 3 moved to change the title and Speaker 6 seconded; the committee carried the motion on a voice vote. Speaker 3 amended the motion to reserve a sentence for formal action by the full board, and staff will place the item on the next full-board agenda for ratification.
Later in the meeting, Speaker 1 moved and Speaker 3 seconded a motion to enter executive session for the stated purposes of reviewing the June 11 minutes, discussing an employment contract and conducting audit discussion. The motion passed on a voice vote and the committee recessed to executive session.
What happens next: The medical-title language will be forwarded to the full board for formal adoption; the committee will follow legal requirements for minutes and any public notices arising from the executive session.
