City staff (Katie) told the council the business qualified for the city’s fifty‑fifty matching job‑creation and investment grant and that adequate funds remained in the program budget. Applicant Matt Harrison, a 15‑year resident, described the concept as a family‑friendly, 1990s‑themed beverage and sandwich shop offering nonalcoholic specialty drinks, protein items and handcrafted sandwiches. Harrison said he planned a soft launch in January and intends to offer student discounts.
Council members expressed support for the concept’s youth‑friendly orientation and downtown location. A motion to award up to $10,000 and authorize the city manager to execute the grant agreement passed by roll call with unanimous yes votes.
Next steps: city manager to execute the grant agreement and the business will submit receipts as required by program rules for reimbursement of matching funds.
