City approves $10,000 matching grant for Altus Global Aviation expansion

Crystal Lake city council voted to award Altus Global Aviation LLC a $10,000 matching manufacturing job‑creation grant to support the company’s planned move and expansion on South Virginia Road.
Liz Franz, an owner of Altus Global Aviation, told the council the business was founded in Crystal Lake in 2004 and is expanding from roughly 5,000 square feet to more than 16,000 square feet to accommodate growth. “The warehouse is 3 times the size of what we have now, and it's gonna allow us to expand. It allows us to buy more product and grow our business,” Franz said.
Staff said the city’s matching grant program is sufficiently funded to accommodate the request. A council member moved to award $10,000 and to adopt a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the grant agreement; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call.
The council offered congratulations and wished the company luck as it expands operations and seeks to hire locally. The resolution directs the city manager to finalize the grant agreement; no additional conditions were attached in council action tonight.
The next procedural step is execution of the grant agreement by the city manager and the petitioner.
