Alpharetta council approves fleet policy, community grants, arts program and strategic‑plan contract

Council approved several administrative and program items as part of its new business agenda:
- Fleet maintenance and replacement policy: Director Tom Harris presented the new policy developed with departments; council highlighted anticipated savings and adopted the policy. "This policy... will bring about significant savings to our budgetary for fleet management going forward," Harris said.
- CDBG grant amendment: Council authorized an amendment to a Fulton County Community Development Block Grant for ADA accessibility improvements to a parking lot and authorized the mayor to execute documents.
- I Can Bike program: The city will host the inclusive I Can Bike program at Union Hill Park (not to exceed $11,400) and staff said volunteer signups will be posted to the city website.
- Arts Alpharetta: Council approved a grant agreement for the bi‑yearly outdoor sculpture exhibit (Art on Loan); Art South will curate candidate pieces and the council will approve the final list of sculptures and locations.
- FY2026 midyear budget amendment: Council adopted the midyear budget amendment on second reading with no changes from the first reading.
- Strategic plan contract: Council authorized a strategic planning engagement with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (base price $23,281 with optional public focus groups for an amount not to exceed $27,500).
- Hearing examiner: Council appointed a hearing examiner to oversee alcoholic beverage license hearings.
All of the above motions passed unanimously at the meeting.
