Council closes 2024, staff reports year‑end activities and honors retiring STRS health benefits director

The Ohio Retirement Study Council concluded its Dec. 11 session with brief staff remarks and a public recognition of an STRS staff member.
Mr. Bernard, closing out the councils staff activities for 2024, described the presentation as a "closeout of the staff activities" and said the council will present anticipated projects for the coming year at its first meeting in 2025. No substantive actions or votes were taken on staff projects at the meeting.
During old and new business, Dr. Pottingill used a point of privilege to publicly thank Greg Nicoll, director of health benefits at the State Teachers Retirement System, for "20 years of service to the department," citing Nicolls responsiveness to pensioners and staff. Council members and staff echoed the appreciation; one speaker noted Nicoll will be missed and wished him well in retirement.
The chair announced the councils next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 8 and then adjourned the session.
