Board reviews ESD local service plan and pass-through decisions

Speaker 3 said that approximately $1,000,000 flows through from the ESD for services and that the district still contracts with the ESD or other vendors for some programs (for example, some CTE classes and certain therapy services).
Board members asked clarifying questions about which services the ESD provides and which the district handles internally. Speaker 3 noted that while the district is large enough to employ its own special education staff, some services are still provided via contract and that the consortium model spreads specialized personnel across smaller districts in the county.
The board agreed to approve the ESD local service plan item in the annual packet and to sign the required documentation at the upcoming meeting.
