A student representative and district trustees used part of Wednesday's board meeting to highlight student service and to mark board appreciation month.
"My name is Yasin Campos. I am the Ontario Middle School student body vice president," Yasin told the board and read the school report, noting that OMS "surpassed our school wide goal, bringing in over 5,000 food items" during its fall/winter drive. He described other activities including a chocolate‑bar fundraiser, leadership projects tied to the theme "You Belong," an expanding book club and athletics updates.
The board also paused for board appreciation month. Trustees and staff exchanged brief remarks thanking board members for their service; a small gift was presented and trustees reflected on the time commitment required of school board service and the value of community engagement.
The student report and appreciation items were informational; no formal board action was taken on those items.
