At its meeting the Port Jervis Common Council approved a package of routine but consequential items, summarized here:
- Bills and reports: Councilwoman Misty Fuller reported bills to be paid totaling $364,283.87 across general, water, sewer, capital, trust and tourism funds; the council voted to pay the bills. The April building department, fire inspector and police department reports were accepted by the council.
- Fire department actions and events: The council approved an interdepartment transfer for firefighter Dean Olmick from Tri-State Hose Company No. 6 to Mahakam Hook and Ladder, approved event and parade dates including a June event and a Sullivan County parade on Sept. 6, and approved nominations for active membership in Excelsior Engine Company No. 5 for Riley Norman and Philip J. Burrows.
- DPW hiring and operations: The council approved hiring Brendan Henn as a part-time DPW worker at $17 per hour with a May 2025 start date. DPW reported ongoing work on Church Street splash pad and West End Beach bathhouse, and noted the compost pile is open Saturdays.
- Recreation commission changes: The council accepted the resignation of Stanley Buzek III from the Recreation Commission and appointed Austin Wilson to fill the remainder of the term.
- Events and tourism: Tourism reported the 'Fabulous Fifties' event on June 1 at Riverside Park and a Bella North Italiana festival on Aug. 9 in Orange Square Park; both event notices included application deadlines and meeting dates for tourism committees.
