At the start of the meeting, resident Darcy Burke used the public comment period to press the city on two neighborhood concerns: loose chickens and stormwater pollution.
Burke said she is frequently tagged on social media about chickens wandering near Sloop and asked the city to add a reporting form to the city website so residents would not have to contact staff directly. "Please, no chickens," she said, adding that she would welcome a simple online form to track such reports.
Burke also raised environmental concerns, saying she had photographs of foam entering the lake where stormwater drains discharge. "Because people wash their cars and their boats, and that runs down into the gutter, into the stormwater system, into the lake," she said, and asked whether the city could trace sources of the contamination. She suggested residents working with detailing services be mindful that soap does not belong in the lake.
Burke concluded by saying her board identified improved communications and engagement as a top priority and that capital improvement projects are proceeding.
No formal action was taken during public comment; Mayor closed the public comment period and proceeded with the agenda.
