The selectboard accepted the North Brookfield Police Department’s monthly report for January, submitted in writing by Chief Ryan Daley. The report noted staffing adjustments (department operating with five officers after one officer left and Chief Smith took a new position), the hiring of Officer Robert Nelson (21 years’ experience) to fill one vacancy, and the promotion of Jeffrey Martin to sergeant. The report also listed recent training and service statistics including civil citations, protection orders and accident responses.
The School Committee chair (Speaker 13) briefed the board on school highlights and a recent special meeting in which the committee voted 4–1 to end tuition-out agreement talks with two neighboring districts; the committee asked the superintendent to prepare a goals/financial plan for the district. The chair also noted student successes and upcoming events including STEAM night on March 5 and other community activities.
During public comment a speaker thanked public works and town staff for storm response efforts over the recent storm, naming several employees and volunteers who assisted with long shifts and vehicle support.
The board accepted the police report and offered thanks to the teams involved in storm response.
