Board approves consent items, hires, trips and calendar; multiple routine motions pass

The Jordan Public School District board approved multiple routine items on Dec. 8, including the consent agenda (donations, renewals and new hires), the 2026–27 school calendar, several overnight field trips and updates to employee terms.

Consent agenda highlights included donations (Fish Lake Sportsman Club donation of $2,500; Sidewick Lumber $1,192.13; other community donations and $250 gifts to individual schools) and personnel items: renewal of fall coaches, hire of boys basketball coach Josh Sitzman, a long-term substitute paraprofessional Janae Vogel, and front-desk assistants Greg Ditel and Kelsey Pecarnadabu. The board reopened and re-voted the consent motion to address an abstention question; the final roll-call summary recorded three in favor and two abstentions for the consent motion, and the motion carried.

The board approved three overnight field trips for athletics: a Dec. 29–30 Nordic skiing trip to Giant’s Ridge (state meet site) funded by team fundraisers and the Jordan Booster Club; and two Scott West wrestling overnight tournaments (Rochester and Rogers) with booster-club support for hotels and food. The board also approved the 2026–27 school calendar, which begins student instruction Sept. 1 (with a freshman focus day Aug. 31), returns professional development days throughout the year, and ends near Memorial Day with one instructional half-day at year end.

Superintendent Evenson presented updates to confidential and support-employee terms, noting average raises of about 1.5% and a $500-per-year contribution toward family insurance for the confidential employee group; the board approved those terms and several position-level term updates by voice vote.

All routine approvals passed by voice vote during the meeting.
