The Osage County commissioners authorized county staff to sign the health department’s annual state grant signature page covering three grants that together total $49,570 for the grant year starting July 1, 2026.
Jackie Patterson, representing the county health department, presented the request and listed three grant components: an immunization grant of $3,751; a public health emergency preparedness award of $16,856; and the state formula allocation of $28,963. Patterson said these amounts are entered now although small adjustments are possible before the grant period begins.
Commissioner Speaker 3 moved to authorize Kirsten Smith to sign the signature page for the health department’s grant applications; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners asked routine questions about funding timelines, and Patterson said the grants are awarded on a year‑to‑year basis and that recent years have seen modest increases in the state formula and related grants.
Patterson also noted that some COVID‑originated grant funds are nearly exhausted due to equipment purchases, including a generator and a refrigerator that the health department recently received and is having alarm systems reconnected.
