Milton board hears staffing, enrollment projections and CTE expansions

District administrators delivered a staffing and enrollment update that combined current counts, preliminary projections and program changes for 2026–27. Administration reported a kindergarten projection target of 201 students and said 187 kindergarteners were registered as of the report; administrators cautioned projections remain preliminary and will be adjusted through April.
To align staffing with enrollment, the district plans one additional FTE at Milton High School and a reduction of one FTE at Northside; administrators said the reduction would be absorbed through resignations and retirements and not result in forced layoffs. Officials also described section-alignment shifts across East, West and Harmony to match incoming cohorts, and said staff will communicate assignment changes by early April.
High-school programming will expand in health-care sciences: administrators said the district will offer more Project Lead The Way (PLTW) human-body-systems and anatomy/physiology sections and increase introductory health-care-science sections from two this year to five next year. The district also announced an expanded Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) offering: a partnership with Wisconsin‑Illinois Stateline Senior Living will allow CNA training across trimesters and as a summer course and will include dual-credit opportunities when state rules permit. “We’re gonna be able to add another trimester next year,” an administrator said about the CNA schedule.
Administrators also highlighted career-pathway one-pagers and brochures intended to simplify course selection for students and families and said the district will expand the guided-flight program to Milton East in addition to Milton West.
The board approved the staffing report later in the meeting by voice vote.
