Council adopts resolution condemning political violence after Charlie Kirk killing

The Jefferson County Council unanimously adopted Resolution R25-1090, condemning political violence in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
During public comment, a resident who said he had worked with Turning Point USA described the killing as a personal loss and expressed support for the resolution. On the council floor, one member read a passage from a book by Kirk and urged civic participation. "I would invite all our citizens to step up and take participate in their government so that we don't go down this path," a councilmember said.
The council moved to adopt Resolution R25-1090 on first and final reading and the motion passed 6–0. A councilmember acknowledged assistance from staff in St. Louis County who helped draft the resolution language.
The resolution was presented as a condemnation of political violence and does not, in the meeting record, include punitive provisions or budgetary actions.
