Council members praised the Department of County Services and noted that staff negotiated tree-preservation language into the plan and a requested lot-depth-to-width modification for 54 lots. Councilman Grodeky called the department's presentation "one of the best" he had seen in years, and Councilman Seek noted the project creates high-paying union construction jobs in the county.
The motion to approve the rezoning and development plan passed 7–0 on first reading; the bill will return for perfection with the negotiated conditions included in the development agreement.
