Council adopts budget and emergency plan, approves routine resolutions in unanimous votes

At its meeting, the Jefferson County Council approved a package of routine and substantive measures by unanimous votes.

Key outcomes included final passage of the emergency operations plan (bill 25-12335) and approval of the fiscal year 2026 budget ordinance (bill 25-12336 A1 and A2), which provides appropriations and a cost-of-living adjustment. The council also introduced and on first-and-final reading adopted multiple administrative resolutions (R25-12-111 through R25-12-118) covering surplus property, surplus payments from delinquent tax sales, consents to reappointments to advisory bodies, and corrections to assessment records. Council members noted that many corrections to property records reflected court orders rather than internal office errors. Members also discussed the consent agenda’s financial scale—one council member had earlier noted the consent agenda authorizes "a little over $2,500,000" in spending across various county services.
