YUBA CITY — The Yuba City City Council on Feb. 17 approved a monetary sponsorship of $1,800 for the Sri Guru Ravidas Temple’s Haines Avenue Parade, slated for March 29, 2026.
Sierra Wakefield presented the request on behalf of the temple and said the parade at 1511 Haines Avenue is in its fifth year and expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees. Wakefield told the council the temple requested $1,800 to help offset logistics and event costs and that the funds would come from the city’s community events budget (account number 422066015).
"This year is their fifth annual Haines Avenue parade, and it is scheduled for 03/29/2026," Wakefield said. "This event is open to the public, and we expect more than 2,000 attendees at this event. They have requested an $1,800 sponsorship in order to help offset the cost of logistics and events."
Council member Kirchner moved to approve the sponsorship; Council member Shaw seconded. The roll-call vote recorded ayes from Kirchner, Shaw, Vice Mayor Pasquale and Mayor Boomgaarden; Council member Cole was absent. The motion passed unanimously.
If approved as adopted, the $1,800 would be deducted from the community events budget and leave a remaining balance in the quarter as reported by staff.
