Developer backs Bellaterra rezoning; resident asks Jefferson County to repair subdivision streets

During the public-comment portion of the Feb. 23 Jefferson County Council meeting a developer representative and a neighborhood resident gave contrasting appeals to the council.
Katie Peruta, who identified herself as representing McBride Homes, spoke in support of bill 26-0235A1, the Bellaterra Addition rezoning. Peruta told the council, “We support the project. We support the bill as amended,” and said the developer was available to answer questions.
Later, Patrick Stowell of 2769 White Creek Lane addressed the council about his subdivision’s streets. Stowell said, “The county terminated the street program with our subdivision, gave us until March 8.” He asked the council and county administration to “please at least return the streets to our HOA with no holes in the streets,” similar to the condition when the county originally accepted the roads seven years earlier. He also requested a six-month extension on the termination to allow the street department time to repair holes, and provided pictures to council members.
The public-comment period closed after those remarks and the council moved on to agenda business. The transcript does not record a direct response to Stowell’s request or an immediate staff commitment; follow-up by the county administration or public works department would be the next step for resolution.
