Tim Brown elected Jefferson County Council chair; Charles Grodeky chosen vice chair

At the council’s first meeting of the year Tim Brown was elected council chair (4‑vote plurality) and Charles Grodeky elected vice chair after initial ballot for Billy Crow failed. The leadership slate was set before the council moved on to agenda business.
The Jefferson County Council elected its 2026 leadership at the meeting. Tim Brown was nominated and elected County Council chair by a vote of 4 yes votes. An initial nomination to make Billy Crow vice chair failed (3 yes, 4 no), and Charles Grodeky was subsequently nominated and elected vice chair by a vote of 4 yes, 3 no.
Council rules for the annual election were discussed briefly during the nominations process. Members noted the chair is elected first and then the vice chair, and that a majority of the council (four votes) is required to elect either officer. After votes were counted the moderator announced the outcome and the council proceeded to subsequent agenda items.
The newly elected leadership will preside over committee appointments and the council’s work sessions for the coming year.
