County officials report rise in motor-vehicle fee revenue; state changes may add retroactive receipts

Unidentified Speaker 3 said they were "hoping we can retroactively go back and get that money from them," which would increase county revenue.
Officials also discussed cross-county titling and changes that allow out-of-state residents with local farms to register vehicles in Iowa, which staff said could add fee revenue and registration transactions at the county level. The department reported a 7% increase in title transactions last year, though staff cautioned they do not expect the same growth rate this year.
Board members asked department heads to circulate revenue detail via email and to mark proposed adjustments to budgets ahead of the next meeting so the board can decide levy and shuffling options.
