Council accepts 1.19-acre road deed from county for 300 South

The Mona City Council voted to accept the deed of a small T-intersection on 300 South from the county on Dec. 9, 2025, formalizing transfer of about 1.19 acres to city ownership.
Dennis Gardner of the Planning and Zoning Commission told the council the parcel was previously dedicated to the county and staff asked the county to rededicate it to the city. "There was a block...a T intersection that was county owned that we found out, and so we just went to the county and had them deed it back to the city," Gardner said in his briefing.
Council members moved and seconded the resolution to accept the property. The roll call produced multiple ayes and one dissenting vote before the mayor declared the motion adopted. Staff said the change gives the city authority to maintain and enact traffic or street work on that segment going forward.
