Mona City Council swears in officials, assigns liaison roles

Mayor Troy Painter and fellow newly elected officials were sworn into office at the Mona City Council meeting on Dec. 9, 2025. Staff administered the oath of office and council members took their places before the body moved to routine business.
Planning and Zoning Commissioner Dennis Gardner welcomed the new members and later briefed the council on a separate agenda item. Council leadership distributed liaison and committee assignments across members, designating responsibilities for economic development, county liaison and grant coordination, cemetery and parks oversight, green waste and garbage, JRDA, recreation and community projects, streets and new-construction inspections, sewer and library functions.
The assignments were presented as operational guidance for the new term; council members indicated they would confirm seats and make adjustments as needed. The meeting proceeded to action items after the assignments were read aloud.
