Northampton County committees review long slate of board appointments, move them to full council

The Northampton County personnel committee on Feb. 18 reviewed and advanced a lengthy slate of appointments and reappointments to county boards and authorities, moving the package to full council for final confirmation.
Committee members read into the record nominations for the conservation district board, election commission, general purpose authority, housing authority, jail advisory board, Lehigh Valley–Northampton Airport Authority, Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, mental health and early intervention advisory board, open space advisory board, personnel commission and the retirement board. Names included Jason Bolle and Jamie Bosman for the conservation district, Becky Ann Bartlett and Richard Groff for the election commission, and reappointments such as Christopher O’Mato and Patricia Strunk for planning and retirement duties. The committee chair asked for and received motions to move the appointments forward rather than holding internal competitive votes.
The appointments were presented in serial fashion with term start and end dates read aloud for each nominee. A committee member asked whether multiple applicants were competing for any single vacancy; the response from staff and the chair was that the nominees presented would fill vacancies rather than trigger an internal vote at committee. No formal vote tallies were recorded in the committee transcript; motions to advance the items were made and acknowledged.
The committee’s action advances the list to the full Northampton County Council, where final confirmation and any roll-call votes will be recorded.
