The Planning Commission approved a motion to hold a special meeting on March 12 at the regular 7:30 p.m. start time to consider a restaurant site plan on Orchard Lake.
An applicant had requested the date; Speaker 4 moved to schedule the meeting and Speaker 3 seconded. Commissioners discussed quorum constraints and logistics; staff said the meeting would be a regular planning commission meeting (not a study session or discretionary public hearing) focused on a site plan. The meeting was scheduled by voice vote.
Commissioners also discussed an outreach practice in which planning commissioners and council members meet in pairs for 30-minute conversations at the planning office to discuss the master plan and planning priorities; staff (Charmaine) will coordinate available time slots.
Open Meetings Act concerns were raised during the discussion; staff said the paired meetings are intended to avoid creating a quorum and to facilitate informal conversations between staff, commissioners and council members.
