At arraignment the court called State v. Valena Page. Bridget Garza announced on the record for the defense and the defendant confirmed her identity. The prosecutor asked to amend the indictment to add a bodily-injury allegation and to include a complainant name that was missing on count two.
Judge Caproach said that because the proposed change was substantive the amendment needed to be placed on the record and the parties would need to correct the stipulated paperwork (page 2 of the stipulation). Court staff and counsel were instructed to reflect the correction on the record rather than by offhand changes to files that are official.
The transcript does not record a finalized amendment entry number or a formal pleading filed during the hearing; the court ordered the parties to make the necessary corrections on the record and to update the stipulation paperwork.
