Summary
David Good introduced himself after council appointment, said he moved to Selma about 3½ years ago and works in cold storage operations at Americold; he said he hopes to apply his operations experience to expand local parks and youth programming.
The Town of Selma Recreation Advisory Board formally welcomed new member David Good at its Feb. 17 meeting after council approval of his appointment.
Good told the board he moved to Selma from Maryland about 3½ years ago and previously worked on facility launches with Amazon. He said he now manages multiple cold-storage facilities for Americold and has experience in team leadership and fundraising. Good said he has two young children and was motivated to join the board to help expand local recreation options so families do not have to travel to nearby towns for programming.
"I can either sit back and complain about not being done, or I can... take some of my business things that I've been able to do over the years and bring that to help as much as I can," Good said, explaining his decision to join the advisory board. He mentioned practical constraints such as payment methods (noting he had to shift to a Venmo card because the town's registration system did not accept American Express) as part of why he wants to help improve program accessibility.
Board members welcomed Good and encouraged him to engage with ongoing items such as facility planning, the nature park and youth sports scheduling. The board also discussed internally dividing oversight responsibilities so small teams can 'own' specific parks and program areas and avoid repetitive explanations during meetings.
