Ada County accepts $2,500 state grant to fund traveling bicentennial kiosk

Ada County commissioners on Feb. 24 accepted a $2,500 grant from the State of Idaho’s 'America 250 in Idaho' celebration fund to support county events tied to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Treasurer’s staff explained the funds will help produce a traveling kiosk or podium intended to visit county locations so employees can read and pledge to the Declaration of Independence. "These funds are awarded to us to use to help promote events surrounding that event," the treasurer’s representative said, describing plans for a kiosk that will travel to various county locations.
The board voted to adopt the resolution required to add the funds into the county budget and to accept the grant agreement (award number noted in the record as 2511B and agreement number 31445); the chair was authorized to sign the documents. Treasurer’s staff also described a related public-engagement effort called 'Spuddy Buddies' (mascot characters tied to the anniversary) used at events.
The grant will be added to the county’s budget via the adopted resolution so that the funds can be expended for the described celebration materials and outreach.
