Lewisburg students report record homecoming turnout, propose new student funding split

Gibson, a student council representative, said the homecoming theme was "Masquerade," that ticket sales began Oct. 1 and that the council sold 417 tickets—its highest count since before the COVID‑19 pandemic—resulting in $4,170 in revenue and about $800 in expenses, leaving roughly $3,300 in gross surplus. "We sold 417 tickets, which from our account count is the highest that we sold since pre COVID," Gibson said.
The council proposed a pilot distribution plan: clubs or teachers who chaperoned the dance may apply for a portion of the surplus to fund club activities. Gibson said a teacher who chaperoned (Mr. Krieger) requested about $500 to support FBLA, and student council will vote on distribution requests when it reconvenes.
Meta Faden, the student council vice president, summarized recent staff appreciation work—students purchased four dozen donuts for staff before Thanksgiving—and outlined upcoming events including door‑decorating contests, a secret‑student gift exchange around the holidays, cookie decorating on Dec. 19 and teacher appreciation week plans for May.
Board members thanked the students and asked questions about spring events and logistics; students described exploratory plans for a carnival‑style indoor event. The presentation closed with board appreciation and administrative transition back to board business.
