Moorhead HRC approves minutes and elects new chair and vice chair

During its Feb. 18 meeting the Moorhead Human Rights Commission approved minutes from its Jan. 21 meeting, held nominations and elected Yvette Ellis as chair and Anna Rajesh as vice chair, and discussed upcoming vacancies and application procedures for new commissioners.
The meeting package included the Jan. 21 minutes; a commissioner moved to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. Later in the meeting, a commissioner nominated Yvette Ellis for chair; the nomination was seconded and carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded. Anna Rajesh was nominated and approved as vice chair in a separate voice vote.
Commissioners discussed that two seats will become vacant in March and encouraged residents to apply through the City of Moorhead website; Tanya and other staff members noted the online commission-application button and said the city website would go live with an updated layout soon. Commissioners also discussed the Citizens Academy as a resource for prospective applicants to learn more about city processes.
The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
