Sesquicentennial committee to donate estimated $20,000 toward Turtle Park legacy project

RIVERSIDE, Ill. — The Village Board on Feb. 19 approved a motion authorizing the allocation of residual funds from the sesquicentennial committee to a Turtle Park legacy project.
Trustee Marsh Aska, speaking for the sesquicentennial committee, said the committee anticipates roughly $20,000 in surplus funds once final bills and auction proceeds are tallied and asked that the balance be dedicated to the Turtle Park project with a small recognition sign. "We were so successful with everything last year that we have approximately, and this is estimated until all expenses are finally in, but roughly $20,000 to put towards a legacy project," Marsh Aska said.
Manager Francis confirmed the recommendation and trustees moved, seconded and approved the allocation by roll call. The board thanked the committee for its work and for the donation.
Trustees also noted the committee will host a closing ceremony at Riverside Public Library and the village will post auction information online for additional contributions to the legacy fund.
