RIVERSIDE, Ill. — The Village of Riverside Board on Feb. 19 approved a one-year extension to its agreement with Paramedic Services of Illinois (PSI), keeping PSI as the village's contract paramedic provider from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
Director Buckley summarized the 2023 procurement history and explained staff chose to negotiate an extension rather than re-bid after learning competing proposals in the prior RFP were notably higher. "We did ask we're gonna look at possibly going up for an RFP again, but due to how it went last time... we decided to talk with PSI to see if we could extend the contract," Buckley said. He told trustees the extension reflected industry wage pressures and the village's desire to remain competitive to retain staff.
Buckley reported the estimated cost for the one-year extension as approximately $770,000. The resolution had been reviewed by the village attorney and brought forward with a recommendation to approve. Trustees moved, seconded and approved the extension by roll call.
No further details about contract terms or budget-line impacts were provided at the meeting; staff said the attorney reviewed the amendment and that several minor edits had been made. The contract will take effect April 1, 2026.
