The Sycamore Community School District Board elected Victor Harris as its president and Doctor James as vice president during its organizational meeting. Both nominations were seconded and carried on roll-call votes. The board clerk administered the oath of office and Harris immediately presided over the meeting.
Harris thanked colleagues and the community, noting his nearly 40 years of involvement with the district and saying he would “execute my duties to the best of my abilities” while acknowledging he would rely on colleagues. Doctor James was sworn in as vice president before the board continued with appointments and business.
The board then proceeded to assign committee roles and liaisons, with members volunteering for legislative, audit, policy, foundation and advisory positions. The newly seated leaders will preside while the board sets work-session and regular-meeting schedules for the year.
The board concluded the organizational portion and moved into its regular meeting agenda.
