Supervisors approve routine appointments, tax‑sale proceeds distribution and consent agenda items

Butte County supervisors on Jan. 27 took several routine actions, unanimously approving the consent agenda and several appointments and administrative resolutions.
Assistant Clerk Melissa Kits asked the board to reappoint trustees to the Pine Creek Cemetery District under Health and Safety Code 9024, recommending staggered terms for Jay Knight (to 01/26/2028), Dan Marron (to 01/26/2029) and Philip Wilson (to 01/26/2030); the board approved the reappointments unanimously. The board also reappointed Corey Hammond to the Butte County Fish and Game Commission for a term ending Jan. 1, 2029; that motion passed unanimously.
Troy Kidd, Treasurer/Tax Collector, presented a resolution to distribute excess proceeds from the reoffered tax sale (September 2024 sales). Kidd explained that excess proceeds arise when sold bids exceed the county's owed taxes and that claimants such as heirs or lienholders have one year to apply; unclaimed funds ultimately revert to the county general fund. The board approved the distribution resolution unanimously.
Separately, the board approved several consent‑agenda items after noting 15 email comments on one consent item; no item was pulled from the consent calendar.
Closing: These procedural approvals were adopted by unanimous vote and will be administered by respective county offices.
