GIS Jen, host of Montgomery Township’s GIST series, walked viewers through how to find parcel and zoning information using the township’s online zoning application. She explained where to find the app on the township website and showed key controls viewers should use.
The zoning application is available from the township website by clicking Departments from the top menu bar and selecting Geographic Information Systems (GIS) under the Administration category. "Find the search bar that says 'Find Address or Place,'" GIS Jen said; users should begin typing an address and then select the address from the dropdown that appears.
Selecting an address centers the map on that parcel and highlights the relevant zoning districts. According to GIS Jen, the search results display parcel number, estimated taxes, parcel area, any overlay districts or zoning clusters, and the zoning district. Users can click the link in the results to go directly to the section of the township zoning code that applies to that district.
If users want to look up a different address, GIS Jen instructed them to click 'Clear search location' on the map and repeat the search. She closed by advising that anyone with further questions about township zoning districts should contact the Montgomery Township Office of Planning and Zoning and by directing viewers to the township website for more GIS resources.
The video is an instructional overview rather than a policy discussion; it is intended to help residents, property owners, and developers navigate publicly available zoning and parcel information online.
