The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 7 approved a special‑use permit for a wireless communications facility at LifePointe Christian Fellowship in the San Tan Valley town limits.
Planning staff described the request (SUP‑010‑25) for a quasi‑stealth design tower with an overall height of 95 feet, noting the county’s stealth‑design allowance is 90 feet and the applicant requested an exception for the extra height inclusive of branch equipment. Staff said the tower will host first‑responder network equipment for police, fire and EMS and will meet setback and stealth design criteria apart from the requested height variance.
Senior planner Valentin Panchenko said planning staff and the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval subject to 14 stipulations in the staff report. Bill Koning of SmartLink, representing AT&T, said the design is a mono‑elm (an ‘elm’ style, not a pine) and that the HOA reviewed and approved the design. There were no public speakers; the board approved the permit with the staff’s stipulations.
Next steps: The applicant will proceed to permit and construction under the stipulated conditions, and the tower will include first‑responder communications capacity.
