Ferguson board issues statement on transparency, praises staff; public utility hearing scheduled for Sept. 30

Chair read a prepared statement at the Sept. 10 special meeting affirming the board’s commitment to transparency, accountability and professional operations. The statement noted recent reforms, use of outside financial reviewers (Susquehanna Accounting and Consulting Solutions and Baker Tilly) to review reporting and procedures, and efforts to strengthen workplace protections.
Multiple supervisors publicly thanked staff, encouraged residents to use the township’s online Citizen Request Center for service requests, and invited community members to apply for local authorities, boards and commissions. Supervisors emphasized supporting staff and recognizing their workload and professionalism.
Township staff announced two open houses on proposed streetlight, fire hydrant and oak wilt ordinance amendments (Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. and Sept. 25 at noon) and said the Public Utility Commission granted a public input hearing to be hosted in Ferguson Township on Sept. 30 with sessions at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Staff encouraged early registration for the speaking list and noted the PUC’s hearing will record testimony as part of the proceeding.
The board adjourned at the end of the meeting.
