Ferguson supervisors approve tentative Teamsters contract for public works

The Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to ratify a tentative collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 764 for the township public works department, covering Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2027.

The manager told the board the agreement concluded months of negotiations and focused primarily on wages to address longstanding disparities. “With this CBA we will bring…our public works pay scales with neighboring municipalities to strengthen recruitment, retention and operational excellence,” the manager said during the presentation. The agreement is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2025 for employees currently employed by the township; the manager clarified retroactivity does not apply to employees who have already left the township under the negotiated terms.

The board opened a public hearing to receive comments on the tentative agreement and then held a roll‑call vote. Vice Chair Patterson, Supervisors Stevens, Heller, Strickland and Chair Thompson each voted yes, and the resolution passed unanimously.

The manager said the tentative agreement will be signed following union ratification; the board’s action authorized the chair and township manager to execute the collective bargaining agreement upon that ratification.

The contract includes incremental wage adjustments intended to align pay with neighboring jurisdictions and narrow historical disparities, but the meeting materials attached to the agenda contain the detailed wage schedule and related implementation steps.
