The Murrieta City Council issued proclamations recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month and honored a longtime volunteer as the city's 2025 Champion for Murrieta.
Mayor Cindy Warren read a proclamation recognizing SAFE Family Justice Center for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and invited Marshall Hamilton, SAFE's executive director, to accept. Hamilton said SAFE merged with the Family Justice Center Network in 2019 and described countywide services; he said SAFE serves about 4,000 survivors annually and that roughly 250 local survivors were served last year.
The council also presented a proclamation to Jennifer Lozano of Susan G. Komen, who invited the public to the More Than Pink Walk on Sunday, Oct. 12. Lozano and council members emphasized free community screening and awareness activities in October.
Council Member DeForest presented the fourth Champion for Murrieta award to Frank Donahoe, noting his U.S. Navy service, Rotary Club involvement and leadership in founding the Murrieta Field of Honor event. The mayor and council pinned Donahoe and took a group photo.
These proclamations and community announcements were followed by routine governing body reports, information about city events and a MilVet care‑package drive that runs Oct. 12–Nov. 12.
