Murrieta youth advisory committee members introduce calendar of events and outreach

Jasmine, president of the Youth Advisory Committee, introduced herself and told commissioners the YAC held its second meeting of the year and is expanding member involvement in community events. “I’m Jasmine. I’m your president for the YAC,” she said, and described recent volunteer work including a themed trunk-or-treat booth and helping at a Youth Center Halloween party.
Freya Dangie, the committee secretary and an eighth grader at Thompson Middle School, said she volunteered to give back to the community. Jarrell, an 11th-grade student at Murrieta Mesa, said he joined to complete community-service hours while supporting local programs. Staff told commissioners the students will rotate attendance at future meetings so members can report back on projects and outreach.
The committee flagged upcoming dates for city events and outreach tied to parks programming; commissioners thanked the students and encouraged continued participation. The commission moved the youth report to the top of the agenda to highlight early engagement and make time for student remarks.
