John Lavelle elected Murrieta mayor; Ron Holiday chosen mayor pro tem in unanimous vote

"Congratulations, Mayor Lavelle," the clerk announced after the roll call. Shortly thereafter the council nominated and confirmed Ron Holiday as mayor pro tem, also by unanimous vote.
Outgoing Mayor Cindy Warren delivered remarks thanking staff, council and the community, reviewed the year's accomplishments and urged continued attention to traffic and public safety. Council members offered brief tributes and the council recessed briefly before continuing the evening's business.
The reorganizational votes were procedural and carried without recorded dissent. No additional policy action was tied to the leadership changes.
