Murrieta honors Santa Stops volunteers; program drew 8,833 visitors

Murrieta City Council opened its Jan. 20 meeting by recognizing volunteers who helped revive the city’s Santa Stops outreach. Mayor Pro Tem Ron Holiday and volunteer coordinator Joni Wodowiak presented certificates to dozens of residents and sponsors for their work on the holiday program.
Holiday thanked volunteers and highlighted program results shown on screen: 119 stops across seven nights, 8,833 total attendees, 213 baskets collected for local food and toy pantries, and 107 volunteers who supported the effort. He encouraged residents to sign up for 2026 volunteer shifts at the event website and noted the need for background live‑scan checks for new volunteers.
Council and staff joined volunteers and sponsors for photos; City Manager Clifton and new public information officer Hilder Sam also recognized upcoming community events, including the Murrieta 5K, concert in the park and the city’s 30th birthday celebration June 27.
