At its March 20 session the Rexburg City Council approved several routine and procurement-related items, including a resolution to add an additional leasing option for police vehicles, the surplus of an older cardboard baler, ratification of historical commission appointments and the consent calendar.
Police fleet: Staff said the city has leased patrol vehicles for several years and is adding an additional leasing company as an option because supply-chain constraints sometimes limit vehicle availability. Staff discussed tradeoffs between leasing and buying and noted equipment reuse (radios, video systems) can extend lifecycle; the council voted to move forward with the recommended resolution (designated in staff remarks as Res. 2024-03). The motion to proceed was made and seconded and carried by voice vote.
Public works: The council approved a motion to surplus an older cardboard baler that is no longer supported with replacement parts, allowing staff to remove the asset from city inventory.
Appointments and consent: The council ratified appointments to the Historical Preservation Commission (Rick Robinson, Ronnie Noland, Jason Flora, Jamie Patton, Lisa Jones and David Jones) and approved the consent calendar, including minutes from March 6 and payment of city bills.
All items were approved by voice vote; the meeting included no recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript.
