Somerset County approves routine resolutions, opens public comment and moves to executive session on contract negotiations

At its Nov. 25 meeting, the Somerset County Board of Commissioners approved multiple batches of routine resolutions, voted to adopt the Nov. 12 minutes, opened the public-comment portion of the meeting, and approved a motion to move into executive session to discuss contract negotiations.

The board recorded roll-call approvals of resolution batches (25-2200 through 25-2211; 25-2212 through 25-2226; and subsequent ranges as read on the record). The minutes of the Nov. 12 meeting were approved by motion and roll call. The board then opened the meeting for public comment, announcing a five-minute time limit and a one-time speaking allowance and asking speakers to state their names and addresses before speaking.

Shortly after opening public comment, the board voted to enter executive session. An unidentified speaker requested the motion "to go into closed session for the purposes discussed in contract matters within the provisions of chapter 10:4-12," specifically naming contract negotiations related to the Watchung Borough Trail Grant, LAP grants, CHPP grants and the 9-1-1 dispatchers contract. The board approved the motion and indicated it would adjourn directly from the closed session and take no public action following that session.
