Ops committee approves truck purchases, HVAC and Kronos upgrade in consent votes

Fleet and equipment
The committee approved a cooperative Sourcewell contract to purchase Class 8 refuse trucks from Kenworth Truck Company (doing business as MHC Kenworth Atlanta); the amount read in the meeting was $7,645,946.88 (item 10-52). Separately, staff presented a statewide-contract request to purchase 19 crew-cab trucks for Watershed Management (awarded to Rush Truck Centers of Georgia Inc), with an amount read as $3,757,877; that Watershed item has been sent to audit and will return to ops when audit review is complete.
Facilities and systems
Facility management presented a sole-source change order (contract 2000030) to ATS Waypoint, Inc. for maintenance, repair and installation of building automation and HVAC controls for county facilities, not to exceed $174,900 through Dec. 31, 2026; the motion passed. The committee also authorized funds to replace the roof and rooftop HVAC units at the East police precinct (transcript lists $2,480,470) and members asked whether ductwork or a full renovation had been analyzed; staff said prior renovations were done and the ducts would be inspected during replacement.
IT
Scott Shelton, interim CIO, described a request to move the county’s Kronos timekeeping system to Ultimate Kronos Group’s cloud platform via VirtuSoft LLC, covering implementation and three years of maintenance and including Telestaff for fire/rescue scheduling. Shelton said the upgrade modernizes timekeeping, scheduling and labor management and includes mobile features for field staff; the committee approved the request.
