Local nonprofit Ride the Wave Foundation introduces plan for homelessness campus and transportation

Jeff Fisher of the Ride the Wave Foundation introduced the nonprofit to the Morris County Board during public comment on Oct. 8, describing a plan to build "an all inclusive, modern campus for people experiencing homelessness." Fisher, who said he grew up in Morris Plains and gave his address as 112 Brookline Drive, said the foundation formed in June 2023 after an encounter with an unhoused man named Daryl.
"The grand commitment of Ride the Wave Foundation is to build an all inclusive, modern campus for people experiencing homelessness," Fisher said, adding the group has been doing outreach and distributing supplies: "I've been distributing over a 100 sleeping bags." He said the foundation plans a transportation service called "wave transportation" to connect clients to services and appointments that are otherwise inaccessible.
Fisher also described outreach strategies aimed at building trust, including a podcast he said grew rapidly in subscribers and local briefings to "Sheriff Gannon" and the mayor and a short presentation to a town council. He said Javon is the foundation's CEO and co-host on the podcast.
The board did not take action on the presentation; Fisher's remarks were heard during the public comment portion of the agenda and the chair thanked him before moving to the resolutions portion of the meeting.
