Morris County urges residents to seek local food resources amid SNAP disruption

Morris County officials told commissioners at a Nov. 5 work session that a disruption to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits is affecting residents and that the county has mobilized food partners to assist.
Commissioner Myers, reading the human services report, said, "There is currently a disruption in SNAP," and described ongoing coordination between county human services, the county Office of Emergency Management and local food providers. Myers said Interfaith Food Pantry has capacity to help and that Nourish and other meal providers have received extra supplies from the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
County officials said buildings-and-grounds staff provided equipment and personnel to help distribute supplies and that several providers are offering expanded hours. Residents whose SNAP benefits have been disrupted were directed to the county human services web page or to call the Office of Temporary Assistance at (973) 326-7800 for assistance and resource information.
The report emphasized coordination rather than new policy: staff and partners have been publicizing available food resources and stand ready to provide support if pantries need assistance. No board action was taken; this was an informational staff report and appeal to the public and partnerships to assist those affected.
